Diana West joins Jan Jekielek on American Thought Leaders. West, author of the excellent and easy-to-read book, The Red Thread: A Search for Ideological Drivers Inside the Anti-Trump Conspiracy says, “America is known for the peaceful transition of power.

“Normally, when one party goes out of power, the other party comes in and the one that’s out of power starts to build their campaign for next time and the power will change every two to four years, six years, eight years at the most but the pendulum swings and normally, these kinds of people will just wait till next time.

“[This time], we didn’t see that. We saw all kinds of plotting going on that we were learning about, all kinds of just absolutely terrifying uses of our security agencies, the FBI, the CIA and so on. I wondered who are these people? Why are they doing this? Why are they risking everything?

“Because, of course, if they are caught – and you know this is still an open question – if they are caught, they can lose everything, including their freedom, including, certainly their pensions, including their reputations.

“So, what was driving them? This was not normal American behavior and this becomes a very difficult question to answer, when you’re looking at career public officials, people who have tremendous résumés. They head the FBI, they head the CIA, they work in the Justice Department…”

It was when West looked into the background of Nellie Ohr, wife of Bruce Ohr, at that time the #3 most powerful person at the DOJ, that she discovered that Nellie was not just a Russia expert but a great admirer of Josef Stalin, with the theme of her academic writings primarily focused on the justification of Stalin’s mass-murder of his people (!)

Nellie Ohr worked at the opposition research firm, Fusion GPS, which was contracted by Hillary Clinton’s campaign to produce the the “Pee-Pee Dossier”, also known as the “[Christopher] Steele Dossier”, which was full of salacious and false claims about Trump that amounted to a massive false smear.

West found that other key figures involved in the ongoing rolling coup against Trump; namely, Christopher Steele, James Comey and John Brennan had all been radical Communist and Socialist activists, who proceeded to gain employment at the top intelligence agencies of their countries, which is ironic, considering that the primary mandate of these institutions throughout the 20th century was to fight Soviet Communism!

Steele was hired by MI6 during the height of the Cold War, despite his well-known Hard Left political positions and John Brennan was hired by the CIA in 1980, just a few years after he’d voted in the 1976 presidential election for the Communist candidate, Gus Hall.

James Comey has openly admitted to having been a Communist while at college and he was such a great admirer of Socialist theologian, Reinhold Niebuhr that he even named his secret Twitter account after him until this became publicly known in 2017.

West says that what has since come out about the abuse of the security state by these officers and their disdain for the people, the democratic process and against the duly elected officials carrying out their constitutional responsibilities, it becomes important to understand the beliefs they hold and what animates them to go into public life to begin with and then later to say that there were “17 errors” made in the filing of Carter Page’s FISA warrants.

“How dumb do they think we are?” she asks.

“What drove them to spend their careers in the corridors of power?…It’s very fair to say they are not there upholding their Constitutional Oaths and in fact, they are trashing them and when you actually look at some of the very cold, I would say Marxist beliefs behind these people that seem to animate them, they are deceiving us as to who they really are and they are trying to enact their own visions of what the polity should be, irrespective of these Oaths and and irrespective of the people’s will and the arrogance on display is really only one of the manifestations of this.

“It’s certainly something most people can see. Most people have noticed this about James Comey, for example, on both sides but what does this speak to and this on-fire, True Believer [thing of] bringing “love and justice”, as defined by Reinhold Niebuhr, which comes out of a very Marxist bent – doing “love and justice” on the people, which requires coercion by the state – and it’s frightening, because these are the kinds of people who are not reined-in by a traditional kind of morality…they are unleashed by their immorality and it’s scary when they have the levers of power.

“This aspect of their lives is something that the media in particular and politicians shy away from. They really don’t want to go there.”

Diana West is really smart and she delivers many very fascinating insights in this interview.
